Ibiza Preservation - Mini Series
IbizaPreservation is a not-for-profit foundation that promotes the conservation and regeneration of the unique natural heritage of Ibiza and Formentera by implementing and managing strategic environmental projects in the two islands. In this video series we explore their Ibizan Lizard Protection Program, we dive deep into the story and issues through the eyes of two of their employees working at the front lines of the project.
The Snake Handler of Ibiza
In this short episode we join Ines, who is one of the people working at Ibiza Preservation, and her job is going out to the National Parks and other areas of the island to check the traps, find captured snakes, as well as to take care of the heroic mice that are luring in the snakes.
Lizard Hotels of Ibiza
To tackle the lizard disappearance Ibiza Preservation had started an initiative with local hotels, to create smaller ‘hotels’ or sanctuaries foer lizards to make home, as well as find shelter in urban areas. The Ibizan Wall Lizard unlike the snakes doesn’t mind people and populated areas therefore finding havens in the towns.
