A Regenerative Village in the Woods

Biophilic luxury retreat rooted in Gujarati culture.

Woods at Sasan invited us into a sanctuary that redefines the meaning of luxury - where wellbeing, ecology, and community are seamlessly woven together. Located on the edge of Gir National Park in Gujarat, India, the property is designed around principles of biophilic architecture and regenerative hospitality.

Alongside Woods at Sasan, we collaborated with Regenerative Travel, a global collective of independently owned hotels and travel experiences committed to healing people and the planet. Our role was to document one of their signature retreats hosted on-site - capturing how guests engaged with the land, the culture, and each other across thoughtfully curated moments in a shared experience and goal - leaving the place better than they found it.

Through film and photography, we focused not just on the physical environment, but on the atmosphere and emotional texture of the experience - using natural light and candid storytelling to follow participants as they moved through ceremonies, meals, and encounters with the surrounding community and wildlife.

Culture & Community

At the core of Woods at Sasan is a commitment to its local surroundings. The hotel works closely with the communities of the region—employing local staff, collaborating with Gujarati artisans and craftspeople, and celebrating the music and traditions of the Siddi and Maldhari peoples.

We were invited to witness these relationships first-hand: from lively evenings with traditional musicians to quiet moments of connection over meals cooked with heirloom recipes. These weren’t staged performances but exchanges rooted in mutual respect and long-standing partnership. Our storytelling focused on the textures of these encounters—moments where hospitality became a form of cultural preservation.

Conservation & Wildlife

With Gir National Park just minutes away, Woods at Sasan is intrinsically tied to one of India’s most vital conservation areas. The resort’s approach to travel is low-impact and highly intentional, encouraging guests to experience nature as participants, not spectators.

We documented early morning jeep rides through dry forests, silent lion sightings, and conversations with local guides who shared their deep knowledge of the land. The resort’s food systems and architecture are shaped by ecological principles—minimal footprint, maximum care. Regenerative travel here isn’t a concept—it’s an operating system.
